Good morning Assembly!

riddler, 29.7.2005 6.23, General, Assembly, Organizer, in English

Indeed a very early morning it is still. The sun has just come up and the view is quite spectacular. It’s a pity I don’t have my digicam with me so I could share with you the wonderful vista. Inside, the Arena is still on slow motion, not much is happening and it is actually pretty quiet, I can hear my music playing loud and clear from my stereos.

This 12-hour shift that began at 21:00 yesterday is already getting to me. Still 2h45min to go… *YAWN* The bright side is that I won’t have any more shifts during the rest of Assembly 2005. Nothing much has happened, a bit of client machine tweaking and some password trouble were all that required my attention during these past 9 hours. Got to visit the sauna, which was very nice :)

People seem rather tired at this point and who can blame them. When kickbiking through the Arena corridors, I came upon many “zombies”. Take it from someone who’s been there, it’s not worth trying to stay awake the whole time, sleep is very important!-)

Feeling… weird. Definately weird.

Damn, I might want to sleep a bit more since I’m feeling a bit strange at the moment. Or then it just might be the anticipation of Assembly 2005 really kicking in :) Well, today (well later today anyways) it starts! My work is pretty well in order, people are hopefully happy storing files on the file server and printing to their hearts delight ;) Things are looking good and if none of the organiser’s machines break, it should be smooth sailing from now on. Oh wait, forgot about the truckload of laptops arriving tomorrow. Well, maybe after that it will be smooth sailing…

Today was also about setting up our own place at the Invataso. After some searching I found a nice place right next to our switch. This year I’ll be traveling lite, packing only a laptop and an external monitor plus the obligatory keyboard and mouse combination. Fortunately my laptop is quite powerful so I can play WoW on it in my spare time :)

Now it’s off to bed and to the arena early in the morning. See you at Assembly 2005!

Oh joy… I can hardly wait

The long awaited RAID-cards finally arrived and last Friday I got my precious file server and the other servers went to their respective admins. A bit of tweaking, a lot of clicking and some what-the-hell-is-this-machine-doing-now-moments later it’s up and running. Now just to deliver the users their logins and passwords and ofcourse hook the machine up to the organizer network. But that will be done tomorrow, I’m off to bed now and driving to the Arena tomorrow.

Paniikki? Mikä paniikki? / Panic, what panic?

Well, it seems like the RAID cards for our servers are a bit delayed. Not nice :-/. Since we have some very critical data on our servers it is quite important that we get the RAID cards to ensure data availability in the event that a hard disk should crash. I’m afraid it’s going to be a weekend spent configuring and tuning some servers. Then again, what would Assembly be without some last minute fixing ;)
