Creating pages

Creating a page requires you to have the proper administration rights.

  1. From the menu with your username, select create content and page. Set the title and select the language. Ig you change the Language you must click preview before submitting.
  2. Specifying a path alias is optional, but if it is used the following conventions must be followed. Select a good name in english for the page, and insert the language code before it. As an example, this page is called en/creating_pages. If you specify a path alias, it must have the language part in it.
  3. Submit the page
  4. To have the same page in another language, go to the original page and click translate. You will then see a list of languages and the translation status. Select the the language you want to translate to. Creating a translation must happen this way. You must not create a new page from the create content menu.
  5. If the page has a path alias you must change the language part of the path alias. So for example the translation of this page to finnish must have the path alias set to fi/creating_pages
  6. There should be no reason for you to change the Language field. If you want to change it: don't. Instead go back to the translations page, and select the other language from there.
  7. Submit the translation
  8. After the page has successfully been created and you have made all the translations you are planning to make, you can proceed to add menu entries, if such are wanted. So unless you want to add menu entries, you are now done.
  9. Go to administer and menus. There should be a menu with the entries for each of the languages. The Main menu for example has the menu Main and the finnish translation Yleiset. The titles should always be in english, while the descriptions should be in the language you wish, and the url should go to the page of the menu's language. Add a menu entry after you know exactly where to point the urls.
